Create Office Space Collaboration Areas

A trend in Roseville Sacramento office furniture that I have seen over past few years is to create comfortable seating areas for people to meet and share ideas. Creating a cafe lounge feel in your office environment is key to startups and well established businesses that need fresh ideas to keep their businesses going strong!

Tip: Try moving 5-6 lounge pieces, some small tables, plants, and a white board to write ideas all into an open area or an unused corner of your office.

Tip: Invite your staff to use the space as a new area for light conferencing.

I sell a line of lounge chairs called BIX that had large walls built into them...the only hiccup with making these places with to much privacy is adding to company romances! Good or bad, you're creating a fun place to work even with the added maturity leave!

Open your office and let the sun shine in!

The trends latley for offices have been to open them up and reduce the size of a standard cube this allows for open communication and a less maze/dilbert looking office.

A few years back 8'x 8' was a standard sized cube, with the development and lower cost of the flat screen monitors, cube sizes have shunken. The big corner worksurfaces are not nessessary to hold up a big monitor and now 6x6 seems to be a standard sizes for most open offices...!

Roseville Sacramento Office Furniture cubicles

Also cubicals used to be 62"-72" tall something called standing privacy. Trends latley are to reduce the cube wall height and create a more open interactive enviroment.

In most cases you have all the systems panel onsite to do a standard reconfigure and give your emplyees what they want: a view and better communications with thier co-workers! Call creative commercial interiors for a free consultation to see what we can do to help your Roseville Sacramento Office Furniture become more user friendly and more productive. A happy worker works harder for you!

keeping your office organized....helps you excel in productivity

The most important feature of good office design is functionality. But too often our offices are crammed with so many office machines, equipment, supplies and pieces of paper that our small or home offices are completely dysfunctional.

Do you have to move things out of the way before you can sit down and work? Are there so many papers on your desk that they’re spilling onto the floor? Do you need to contact a search and rescue team to find whatever it is you’re looking for? Then it’s definitely time to roll up your sleeves and organize your office.

You can have the most attractive, up-to-date office design available and still not be able to accomplish what you need to do unless you organize your office.

These steps for an office makeover will show you how to organize your desk and your office space so that you have an office design you can both appreciate and work in.

1) Clear the pathways.

A friend had a coffee table in the middle of his office – which made moving from the desk to the filing cabinet a shin-cracking task for anyone without the agility and balance of a trained acrobat. As he never entertained clients in his office, the coffee table was only used when he set things on it. Moving the coffee table out gave him a clear walkway – and saved him a lot of potential shin damage!

Are there furniture obstacles in your office design? Move them or move them out entirely. You need to be able to walk around.

2) Clear your desktop.

There now. Doesn’t that look nice? An office design showpiece! Now the hard part. Begin to organize your office by looking at your office desk and decide what has to be there. Your computer, obviously. Put it back. Your phone, definitely. Put it back, too. But what else?

Look at all the other stuff you’ve taken off your desk and ask yourself, “Does it have to be on my office desk?” If it’s not something that you use every day to make your work easier, it doesn’t and it’s time to find another place for it.

The stack of papers you’ve been meaning to deal with? Deal with them and file them. The half eaten doughnut from last week. Ugh! You know what to do with that...

3) Get and use caddys and trays to organize your desk and your drawers.

Office supply stores and chain retailers have all kinds of plastic trays and caddies, including those that are designed to fit perfectly into a desk drawer. Use them to get your office supplies organized. Now all those loose pens, paper clips and thumb tacks have a place to go – and when you want one, you’ll be able to find it.

To further organize your desk, stacking trays are ideal for your “inbox” and “outbox”. They’ll help you keep your office desktop neat and save space.

4) Update your equipment.

What office machines are slowing you down or cluttering up your office design? Does your computer need a memory or hard drive upgrade? Maybe it’s time to get rid of your old printer, fax machine and scanner and invest in a multifunction printer. Or time to upgrade the primitive touch tone phone to a speaker phone. Increase the functionality of your office design and make some more work space available.

5) Get it off your desk.

Clear even more work space and organize your office by giving some of your office essentials their own separate space. For instance, your printer or multifunction copier shouldn’t be on your desk. Investing in a printer stand will keep it within a usable distance, free more of that valuable desk real estate, and give you some more shelf storage space for accessories such as printer paper.

Have a small desk and need even more room? An occasional table placed next to your desk will add an elegant touch to your office design and serve as an additional working area. (Be sure to select one of the correct height so you can work at it without having to hunch over.)

Is your desk cluttered with books or manuals? Invest in a book shelf, either freestanding or built-in. You’ll be amazed at how much more space you have to work in when you just move a few books off your desk.

Your back loves you!

Buying an expensive office task chair with all the bells and whistles can be daunting! So many brands and models out there...keep in mind that you can't put a price on your back, when it comes to comfort and function with a great chair!

Your upper legs should be almost at a right angle with calves when sitting at a proper height, arms and elbows should be the same and feet always flat on the floor. you should not having to reaching out to type on a keyboard. If your shoulders, neck or back start to tighten up after just a few hours of work something is not adjusted correctly! An adjustable keyboard tray is also very important for proper wrist angle and multiple typing angle options.. so you don't get any injuries from long days on the computer. When you feel the neck, lower back or wrists start to ache....TAKE A BREAK!

Purchasing from Large Office Product Stores

Be careful when purchasing from the large walk-in "department stores" for office furniture, most of the hired help has no idea about the majority of office furniture products they are selling. In fact you might return to find your young sales person has gone back to round table pizza to run the salad bar!

Always: ask for information about office furniture discounts/closeouts, warranty and if assembly is included. In most cases the department stores won't assemble without extra costs! Always check on how many office furniture units are available and any hidden fees for transfers from store to store.

Roseville Sacramento Office Furniture

Keep in mind that most of the big stores by thousands of one style of office chair in one fabric color and when that chair sells out they order another chair, usally not the same make or model, you might want to rethink this if you just buy a few at a time!

Lastly: leather....make sure its beef leather! You'd be suprised what you'll find out there!

And as always: don't stress it just office furniture! Come see me for any Roseville Sacramento office furniture questions you might have, even if it is about something you bought at a department store!

Helpful Tips For Buying Used Office Furniture:

Don't ever buy office furniture from someone you don't know or does not has a good rating on BBB. A lot can happen from the days, months, or years that follow when an office of used furntiture is purchased and photos were takin. In most cases the cubicals, private offices, seating and filing have been handled several times afterwards, moved into a warehouse for storage, and are usually not in the same condition they once were! SO always view the inventory with your own eyes before purchasing... if the furniture is far away and the deal is of a significant sum have that dealer/broker fly you out at thier expense to see it. In the case of my office furniture inventory, I'm a nice guy and will always make sure you know what your getting right up front... and buy you drinks after!

Roseville Sacramento Office Furniture

Also a lot of dealers post office furniture products on Craig's List and claim they are "used" when in fact they are new and can be purchased at anytime and in any quantity, make sure to always ask for the manufacter product names. Then do a little internet searching to see if there is more of this same product available.... then call me and I will save you some money on it!
